Jenkintown Jazz and Brewfest

What do you get when you mix red hot jazz and
ice cold brews?

The eighth annual JENKINTOWN JAZZ AND BREW FEST where jazz enthusiasts and beer connoisseurs combine for a block’s worth of music and fun for all! Make plans now and join us on Sunday, September 14, 2008, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Jenkintown Town Square on Greenwood Avenue and Leedom Street off of Old York Road.

This year we are proud to present:

Tenor saxophonist DAVE SCHNITTER and his Quartet.
Dave is bringing his quartet from New York. He was with the Art Blakey bands for a sustained period in the late 70's to early 80's.
Vocalist BARBARA WALKER  and her band.
Barbara is probably the pre-eminent blues vocalist in the Philadelphia area.
BOOTSIE BARNES - tenor sax, JOHN SWANA, trumpet, LARRY McKENNA, tenor sax and their sextet.
They are featured on two CD's released by John Swana several years ago as John Swana and "Philly Gumbo" on the 'Criss Cross' label.
A small jazz combo from Jenkintown High School.

The Jenkintown Jazz and Brewfest is a fundraising event for the Jenkintown Community Alliance whose mission is to attain the community's vision of a vibrant, diverse and economically strong central business district.
